The Best and the Worst of the 2016-17 Premier League Season

It may be a funny old game, but you can certainly say that the last Premier League season had some strange moments. Now it has come to a close, let’s take a look at the best and worst bits of the season.

How Did the Super-Managers Fare?

All talk of super-managers soon fizzled out as it looked as if Jose Mourinho’s and Pep Guardiola’s teams struggled at the start of the season. There were flashes of inspiration at the end, with Manchester City’s attack looking promising for the following year. Mourinho’s Manchester United side did not end as well, although he still provided interesting soundbites to ensure we did not forget him.

Three Is a Magic Number

Antonio Conte’s switch to a back three defence raised a few eyebrows, but it soon caught on. Now other teams are switching to the system in the hope they can emulate Chelsea’s good fortune.

Top Players

Making sure that all eyes are on the Premier League, some players stood out in many ways. Eden Hazard showed the creativity to punish sides, N’Golo Kante proved his gift for winning the ball, and Diego Costa kept on winding up the opposition and hitting the back of the net. A rising star has to be Ademola Lookman, who signed from Charlton Athletic to Everton in January. The 19-year-old scored on his debut against Manchester City and played a leading role in the U20s World Cup.

Could Have Done Better

Arsenal fans were expecting big things after a high-spending summer, but they started to nosedive mid-season and only managed fifth spot, although they did win the FA Cup. Calls were being made for Arsene Wenger to go, but he has decided to stay on.

West Ham United were feeling positive after moving to the new London Stadium, but they seem to have had problems settling in, with a dismal season which could have seen them relegated.

If you are already looking forward to the 2017/18 season, you may want to think about setting up training sessions or making sure your football team kits are in good condition. If you need to add to your football team kits, look online at a company such as https://www.kitking.co.uk/ for good deals.

We’re sure some more surprises are on store for the forthcoming season.
